Structure

The Cities Investment Facility and its Implementing Partners provide advisory services and support in the SDG, technical and investability realms to prepare projects for investment, connect projects to investors, participate in financial products design, and provide projects a platform to showcase their progress.

Selected projects actively participate in all three pillars of CIF, which maintain a close relationship and function within an effective feedback loop, supporting and cooperating with each other. These pillars consist of:

A project summary repository which allows project promoters to reach out to a global audience of investors, bringing together a community of stakeholders beginning at the feasibility stage. The Portal will display information about available projects, those both in the preparation stages and those ready for construction financing investment.

An advisory group assisting promoters with project feasibility and upstream preparation, design, and bankability, as well as SDG-impact assessment, verification, and certification using UN-Habitat’s proprietary SDG Project Assessment Tool.

Entities that provide private-capital finance and further bankability guidance to projects that have reached the mid-stage of preparation, in order to drive projects to financial close with other, third-party construction/long-term lenders and investors.

The Cities Investment Portal, Cities Investment Advisory Platform and Cities Investment Vehicles maintain a close relationship and function within an effective feedback loop supporting and cooperating with each other.
